Phase Site Updated In Progress
The first phase was long in planning. While we could have waited even longer and got everything perfect, Michele wanted the site to start its new look as soon as possible. So that's what is happening. We hope you watch while we bloom where we are planted so to speak.
Because we are updating the site in phases, you will come on pages that still have the old look and feel. Those will be handled in one of the upcoming phases.
Phase One consisted of the new site design, look and feel. A major change to navigation.
The old page grew as more and more content came on the site. To say the old home page became too busy is an understatement. For those who are into THE CODE -- while some changes had to be done, because the original site utilized a CSS layout and not table, I am able to often copy and paste into the new page and move on.
Certain pages on the site will not change. The book and excerpt sections will remain in their own special format. Each time a book or excerpt of a book is posted, it will use a different look. We like to give them their own 'special' stamp.
Phase Two handled the Medieval research pages..
As I suspected, the same treatment as the old site for these page was no longer needed. I DID take advantage of the more sophisticated Navigation.
Phase Three will be the Regency book section. It will have the same layout the main site but will get a different look that I hope reflects the Regency Era.
Phase Four will be Paranormal. It too will get its own special look.
Phase Five will involve giving the titles of each page a better look. And updating (this is for the coders again) the 'image replacement technique' within the CSS. At first this was going to be step two. As the web designer, I am finding having those images being 'off' annoying. Ergo, I wanted to fix those next. But content is more important than having perfect title images. So phase two and five swapped places.
And whether anyone tells you or not, there is ALWAYS a final phase of double-checking and re-checking to ensure everything really DOES look correct, that the code is validated, no broken links, typos (some were discovered during this update and are being fixed), better search engine optimization techniques ... all the things that need to work and be correct so that YOU the reader find what you want the first time.
Michele and I both hope like the new design. And enjoy the trip to the final result.
Have YOU Ordered
